A "rocking" baby shower

These cute rocking horse-themed cupcakes were a big deal for me:  This was my first order for someone I didn't personally know, and they turned out to be a huge success!  When the woman contacted me, she told me to be my imaginative self and that everyone who would be attending the baby shower, loved horses.  I immediately thought rocking horses would be perfect!

I was also able to get creative with flavors, so I tried one of my new recipes; an orange vanilla bean cupcake with vanilla buttercream frosting.  From what I gather, they were the hit of the party.  I also made chocolate cupcakes topped with the same delicious vanilla buttercream, for those who love that classic combo.

The adorably edible horses were made out of chocolate and the flowers were made from gum paste.

Seashells by the Seashore

These beach-themed cupcakes were the perfect addition to my husband's aunt and uncle's 50th anniversary party.  We made almost 200 vanilla cupcakes and topped them with vanilla buttercream.  Each of the handmade shells put the perfect finishing touch on these cupcakes.

Corporate Challenge

My husband ran his first 5K a couple of weeks ago called the Chase Corporate Challenge.  His company had set up a tent and I thought it would be fun to make some cupcakes with their Hunt logo on them.  The running man and Hunt logos are made out of chocolate, and were placed on vanilla and chocolate cupcakes with corresponding butter creams.  I think the cupcakes made a nice incentive to run the race a little faster! :)

Go Sabres!

Let's go Sabres!  This past winter, my husband's family got together and a bunch of us went to a Sabres game.  What a great time!  I made these cupcakes for the pregame festivities.  The B's are made out of chocolate and the cupcakes were vanilla with vanilla butter cream.

Camouflage Wedding cake!

Yep, you saw right!  A camouflage wedding cake!  This was by far THE hardest cake I have made!  After many failed attempts and much needed help from my husband, this monster turned out wonderfully.  I also made the leaves you see, out of gum paste.

I camouflaged the inside of the cake as well!  This four-tiered beast was alternating white and chocolate layers with vanilla and chocolate butter cream.

Happy Easter 2012!

I've said before that I love all things baking.  I also love to try new things, even if they seem like a herculean task.  It made me ecstatic that these cookies turned out so well.  I tried what I like to call "pretty frosting" for the 3rd or 4th time here, and it finally worked!  Like I said, I was pleasantly surprised with these sugar cookies frosted with Royal Icing. :)

A Tiger Lily wedding

My best friend got married this past fall in a gorgeous barn and her colors were black and white, with orange accents.  Her main flower was the Tiger Lily and in order to incorporate them in the cake and cupcakes, I hand made each of the Tiger Lilies seen in these pictures out of gum paste.

The two newlyweds wanted to have a cake to cut, so I made this small vanilla cake with vanilla butter cream.

I made 200 cupcakes and by the end of the night, there were only a handful left. :)

Happy Easter 2011!

I have a problem....I love baking!  I will bake for absolutely no reason at all.  So even though Easter isn't a largely celebrated holiday in my family, it was an excuse for me to bake!  These cute little bunnies are chocolate cupcakes with vanilla butter cream.  The ears are made out of chocolate and their cute little noses are M&Ms :)

Hoppy Birthday!

Let's have a hopping good time!  My cousin contacted me about making a cake and cake pops for her daughter's first birthday party and she wanted the cake to look like the invitation.

Using the invitation as my guide, this is what I came up with, which I made out of gum paste, for the top of the cake.  I also made a second, smaller one for her smash cake.

This was a delicious Oreo cake with an Oreo cookie butter cream. :)

These "frog pops" were a challenge, but turned out great!  They were almost too cute to eat!

The curious little monkey

My niece, who was turning 2, was really into this curious little monkey.  She informed me that she really wanted a Curious George cake, and I delivered.  This cake is a Butterfinger cake with chocolate butter cream :)

Valentine's day hearts

What's Valentine's day without chocolate covered hearts?  These heart-shaped cake pops made the perfect addition to the day's festivities.

Superbowl Cake Pops

What's the Superbowl without something delicious?!  I made these cake pops for the big game in 2011 when the Packers and Steelers fought for the title.  These are made out of chocolate cake and I got festive with the football shapes and team colors.

Sunflower power!

My cousin from South Carolina got married in the fall and her favorite flower is the Sunflower.  Needless to say, she wanted gum paste Sunflowers on her cake :)

Wedding Flowers

For our wedding, my husband and I wanted to do most everything ourselves, including the flowers for our cake.  My mother-in-law made the cake and the cupcakes, and I made the gum paste gerbera daisies that topped the cupcakes.

Fondant Cake Numero Uno!!!

Here's to starting out!  Not my first cake, but my first cake with an emphasis on style!  I had heard about fondant, and wondered how easy/fun it would be; I've been addicted ever since! If I remember correct, it was a chocolate cake with a vanilla butter cream frosting.
